Historic Rock Ford's 18th Century Medical Day features self-guided tours of the circa 1794 General Edward Hand Mansion and the Snyder Gallery. During this event, visitors will encounter experts, displays and living historians who specialize in 18th century medicine, including the Lancaster Medical Heritage Museum.

11:00am: Donah Beale presents - And Other Tasks as so Assigned – Military and Civilian Duties and Responsibilities of Nurses and Laundresses in the Colonies. The presentation will begin with a brief overview of accepted medical beliefs in the late 18th century. Beale has conducted research at the Library of Olde Pennsylvania Hospital since 2018. In January of this year she spent time at the Wellcome Collection, London, UK, researching 18th century smallpox theory and inoculation practices. It is those findings that are the basis of her presentation:
